ROPE
Can you hear the wind howling
Through the streets all deserted
Mountains of sand
where the roads used to be
The doors are all open
And no signs on the windows
A headline caught in the breeze
Too horrible to read
Through the tips of your fingers
You can feel subtle vibration
The world as we know it
Will soon fade away
Leave behind your possessions
And set off at daybreak
There is nowhere a man
Whom thinks he can stay
You can still see the shadows
of expressionless faces
What can you do
when you're caught unaware?
You can't even run out of time
When time runs out on you
Some ran for their lives
Others sat and they stared
There's a rope in the desert
For the blind men to follow
Their skin turned red
Beneath the sweltering sky
Left behind by the masses
Who ran for nearest shelter
Under the hands of madmen
Who did not know how to try
The blisters on their faces
Cry out for salvation
Their thirst bellows mute
Lost its voice long ago
No sympathy of strangers
No Samaritan to help them
Wherever it leads
They just follow the rope
Talk heard in faint whispers
Of a place called Redemption
Where the eyes of the blind
Become those that can see
Don’t be distracted by the sirens
That call out before you
Hallucinations and mirages
Of things that deceive
Keep the eyes of your heart
Upon the place called Redemption
Feel the pull as it tells you
The right way to turn
The violence is over
For there is nothing to fight for
You will have what you need
And a new law to learn
If blind men could see
The masses of millions
Wading through the desert
With a rope of their own
Who blazed these trails?
Through a desert of the dying
The sands of the ground
Made of old windlashed bones
Respond please if able
To the invitation which calls you
To the place called Redemption
Rise if you can
At the gate is a blind man
With vision resurrected
He welcomes you with gifts
And a loving outstretched hand
Close you eyes and shut out
The noise of the fallen
Feel for your rope
And travel at will
To the place called Redemption
Press on though so weary
Join the walk of the blind
It beacons you still
